The Human Intelligence Delusion

      • “AI could quickly devour all of human culture, digest it, and begin to spit out a deluge of new cultural artifacts. Soon we will find ourselves living inside hallucinations of human intelligence.” – said Yuval Harari. “AI represents a fundamental risk to the existence of Civilization; we need to regulate AI before it becomes a danger to humanity,” said Elon Musk. “The rise of artificial intelligence could be the worst event in the history of civilization” if not handled properly. – said Stephen Hawking in 2014. Is it a great threat to humanity? I don’t think so.

        • We overestimate new technologies in the short term and underestimate them in the long term. AI is not a new technology; it has been growing for the last 10 years, as Stephen Hawking mention in 2014. Since then, we had a lot of time to learn about this new technology and define the best way to regulate. Now we’re seeing a monster, a big threat of all humanity.

          • First of all, we have to learn to see signs. Signs are things happening today that will build our future tomorrow. We had a big list of failures traying to see and learn about signs and trends. The future is created by those who take action, not just by those who think and dream about it. The future belongs to doers, to entrepreneurs, and that’s where we need to go in an explore it, by looking at the signs of things that are happening right now. The future does not exist. Our present build the future.

            • Second, technologies are not inherently good or bad, the issue is how we use them. If there are people who use AI for evil purposes, they will use any technology for that purpose. Technologies are merely instrumental in achieving certain objectives, and should not be considered an end in and of themselves. Healthy people, healthy tools.

              • AI doesn’t bring new threats; it exposes and makes explicit problems that already existed before. Racial, gender, and socioeconomic biases for example. Or cyberattacks and hacking, which can result in data breaches, financial fraud, and other security risks. Lot of platforms can process vast amounts of personal data, which can lead to privacy violations. It’s not new AI systems can automate jobs and tasks, which can lead to job displacement and unemployment. Or the problem of ethical concerns, such as the use of autonomous weapons or the development of AI that is indistinguishable from human intelligence. All these challenges were here before. AI didn’t create these problems, AI boost it. That’s way the way to approach has to be different, with a much broader perspective.

                • One of the big threats we must minimize is potential death of our language. We agree that the language is in peril, but AI is not the culprit. This phenomenon stems from a longstanding issue of significant social and cultural deterioration that is unparalleled in history. Several factors, including excessive screen time and social media usage, have led to a decline in reading, concentration, and critical thinking abilities.

                  • Suspending AI reveals a lack of comprehension of the ongoing technological advancements, unless those advocating for AI suspension have alternative interests or genuinely feel threatened by the progress of AI.

                    • We must stay close to the development of AI and regulate it like all new things, especially to prevent its misuse, but that does not imply limiting it, rather enhancing it. We must see regulation as a means to consolidate and empower, not as a means to restrict and limit.

                      • AI is a powerful complement, and those who master its usage will survive. Those who do not acquire AI skills will be at a disadvantage and face significant challenges. AI is transforming the landscape of various industries, and businesses that integrate AI into their operations can enjoy increased efficiency, productivity, and profitability. By leveraging AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, companies can gain valuable insights from data and make informed decisions. Thus, it is essential to invest in AI education and training to remain competitive in today’s data-driven world.

                        • If we see what is happening today with the healthcare and medicine sector is incredible. Medicine industry is in a tipping point. AI is driving significant advancements in here, leading to longer life expectancies and improved quality of life. By leveraging AI-powered genetic diagnostics and personalized treatments, we are able to identify and address health issues earlier and more effectively than ever before. This means that we can look forward to a future in which we enjoy longer, healthier lives thanks to the power of AI.

                          • Rather than just treating diseases, a paradigm shift is underway in which we focus on identifying the root causes of good health. By understanding and addressing these underlying factors, we can unlock a world of possibilities for living healthier, happier lives. This approach holds immense promise for transforming healthcare and empowering individuals to take control of their well-being. And AI plays a critical role in this movement.

                            • Are we facing a massive threat from artificial intelligence or are we just dealing with our feeble human intelligence?
